Live, love, laugh & find the light
Welcome to my December Blog. It’s almost the end of the month and by now, the Christmas presents have been opened, the sales have started and the New Year is almost upon us. It’s a time of great reflection, a time of nostalgia and quite often a time of great anticipation, or for some a time of frustration around all the things they ‘wished’ they’d done. The shortest day is behind us, and the evenings are slowly getting lighter.
I particularly love this time of year. It’s a time when there is very little colour around in terms of leaves or flowers and yet the morning frost in the park, settled on the brown bracken amidst a low level fog, is mystical and full of beauty; like precious diamonds twinkling in the sunshine. If you look carefully, you’ll see the first green daffodil shoots and the blue skies which we’ve been blessed with during late December have literally taken my breath away.
Winter time is a time for all sorts of exciting outdoor adventures. Being a firm believer that there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing, I continue to get outside in nature as much as possible. My local outdoor pool is open year round and heated to 28 degrees and Richmond park on my doorstep has endless paths to walk with friends or alone. My kayak, moored at my local council run kayaking centre, is just a stones throw away. The river and park are both places where I often plan my work and my adventures. I love getting outside as much as I can. All togged up and ready to go. Sometimes with friends, often with family or simply alone. My outdoor adventures are literally 5 or 10mins from my home, and yet I’m in another world in moments.
I’m excited for 2017. My resolution is to live, love, laugh & find the light. 2016 has been a great year. There have been a few challenges along the way, but my friends and family have been my constant source of comfort, hope and inspiration.
Music and singing, nature and the great outdoors, family and friends, health and happiness. Simple joys which can so often be taken for granted, until they disappear. Treasuring and looking after these precious gifts and watching the results grow before my eyes has been the greatest lesson learned this year.
Thank you for reading my December Blog.
I look forward to seeing you again in 2017 and to all the amazing people and journeys that each day brings.
With Love, Light, Laughter and Life
