Choir leader in a kayak
Alongside singing and leading choirs, I love to kayak and spend time on the river and to reflect each Friday as my working week draws to a close. Episodes are uploaded on a weekly basis and if you subscribe to my channel then you’ll automatically receive the videos to watch.
I do hope you enjoy watching me in my element. Sometimes funny, always messy, invariably spontaneous and definitely created, made and sent with love. The first episode can be found by scrolling to the bottom of this page. You don’t need to watch them in order but it’s rather lovely to see them in chronological order to get a feel for the change of season, change of mood and change of attire!

Escape the City. A virtual duet.I wrote “escape the city” in a couple of hours one Sunday afternoon. I ‘met’ Elisa at an online song writing workshop on zoom. On writing the song I was curious to hear the lyrics sung in Welsh because of my heritage. I asked Elisa if she would consider making a virtual recording and this was the result. We have never met in person, but I hope we do one day. Music & lyrics by Mary Bourne.

Singing Workshop on ZoomDuring lockdown, musicians have been even more creative and found ways to teach, share and write. Even whilst 'muted' I've connected with choirs all across the UK. Teaching my much loved composition "do you hear my voice" has been a lifeline for me as a choir leader whilst offering support to other choir leaders. The lyrics have truly resonated with so many singers 'we will sing to be heard, we will sing to be free'. It's been a year of discovery. Long may that continue.
