Changing lives through music
By combining the skills of community musician and music leader with those of a classically trained musician and experienced qualified class music teacher, we have created a partnership which brings a great working practice to pupils and teachers. We offer flexibility, a wide range of songs and teaching experience and can tailor our workshops to suit your needs and current focus in school. We are passionate about music education changing lives and through our extensive ‘sing up’ co -mentoring programme we have found our musical and personal strengths to be a huge benefit.
Research has found that music aids personal development, building confidence, self esteem and discipline. It strengthens social skills, helping children to understand and interact with others, promoting skills such as empathy. It enhances intellectual development, improving maths and reading abilities and promoting abstract reasoning and spatial cognition. Participation in music helps steer young people away from damaging behaviour and lifestyles.
“Students who were exposed to the music based lessons scored a full 100% higher on fractions tests than those tho learned in the conventional manner. Second grade and third grade students were taught fractions in an untraditional manner by teaching them basic music rhythm notation. The group was taught about the relationships between the eighth, quartet, half and whole notes. Their peers received traditional fraction instruction” Neurological Research, March 15 1999
