Christmas at The Rose theatre 2015

What another amazing concert showcasing just a handful of the wonderfully talented choirs and ensembles in our Royal Borough of Kingston. This year, our Musical Director, Mary, worked alongside the production team at The Rose theatre to come up with a varied and exciting programme which was representative of as many ages and styles as possible.  Performances included the 60 strong Singing it Back mixed voice choir who enchanted the audience with their varied set in act one as well as the beautiful voices of 40 children from Tiffin Children’s chorus. Our very own Local author, Cath Howe, read one of her own compositions to an audience of over 500!  After a short interval the audience heard from Euphonix (a 70+ strong community choir) followed by 30 singers from Kingston University’s ‘TWIST’ choir with their upbeat young vibe.  Will Thomas, Kingston’s young musician of the year 2015, was our fabulous solo transition act between these two choirs and it was a joy to hear this amazing brass player and his pianist amidst a programme of choirs!  What a very talented set of singers, musicians, accompanists, musical directors, readers and brass players spanning across ages from 8 – 80!  The final act of the evening was the truly amazing “Tiffinians” close harmony a capella act.  These 7 young gentlemen captured the true essence of Christmas with humour, talent, panache and style. Such fine confident musicians who never fail to deliver a quality performance. The standing ovation they received was so well deserved – we could have listened to them all evening. A true community concert which has brought together some fine talent whilst also raising funds for our beloved local theatre. A huge thank you to all the choir leaders, adminstrators and 200 performers for their energy and commitment to making this annual event an even bigger success than in previous years. Roll on 2016 – we can hardly wait to see the line up!
